Leading Clinical Pharmacy At National Level
In my current role at Sidra Medicine, I carry full leadership responsibility for clinical pharmacy services, research, drug information, and medication safety and quality. This is not a role defined by a title — it is defined by outcomes.
I design and implement systems that reduce medication risk, improve care delivery efficiency, and create the conditions for clinical excellence across multidisciplinary teams. I work at the intersection of frontline care and institutional strategy — translating high-level objectives into operational realities that protect patients every day.
Beyond the service itself, I drive quality and process improvement initiatives, lead governance engagement, and represent pharmacy at the highest levels of clinical decision-making within the institution.

From Specialist To Strategic Leader
My progression within Sidra Medicine was not linear — it was earned through consistently operating at a level beyond my formal responsibilities. As a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, I led a team of pharmacists across specialty areas, developed professional development frameworks for my direct reports, and created clinical protocols that standardised care across services.
I managed complex challenges — drug shortages, procurement issues, protocol gaps — and transformed them from reactive crises into opportunities for systemic improvement. I worked closely with Qatar University on collaborative practice initiatives, and developed antimicrobial stewardship and medication use evaluation programmes that extended the impact of clinical pharmacy beyond individual patient encounters.
This period built the strategic muscle I now apply at an institutional level — the ability to see where a system is fragile, and to build the structure that makes it resilient.

The Hospital for Sick Children
Where it Changed
My residency at SickKids — one of the world's top-ranked paediatric institutions — was both the most demanding and most formative chapter of my career. Working with children facing complex, life-altering conditions such as cystic fibrosis, every clinical decision carried an extraordinary weight.
I provided pharmacokinetics consultations, designed individualised therapeutic plans, contributed to formulary evaluation, and presented medication recommendations to the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee. But beyond the clinical work, what this residency gave me was a model of how healthcare can function when the system is designed well.
Daily multidisciplinary rounds — physicians, nurses, pharmacists, allied health — working in structured collaboration, each voice accountable, each decision traceable. It was the first time I understood that clinical excellence and system design are not separate pursuits. They are the same pursuit, seen from different angles.
